Personalised Irish Wedding Goblet │ Handcrafted in Ireland
Celebrate love and heritage with this Personalised Irish Wedding Goblet, inspired by a 17th-century Irish tradition. In medieval Ireland, when a man fell in love, he would carve a wooden goblet as a gift for his bride — carefully crafted from a single piece of wood, and featuring two captive rings. These rings symbolised love and unity. At their wedding feast, the couple would drink from the goblet and keep it safe forever. So long as the rings remained unbroken, their love would always endure.
This heirloom gift is handcrafted by Cian Magill from native Irish ash, locally-sourced from a tree that stood in County Galway since the 1940s. Engraved with the bride and groom’s names and the date of their wedding or anniversary, it’s inscribed in the beautiful Gaelic Seanchló font — a traditional Irish script used since medieval times.
Finished with shellac and natural beeswax to enhance the grain. No two goblets are ever alike, making each one a one-of-a-kind symbol of love and heritage.

Each goblet is made to order using traditional woodturning techniques and crafted by hand. The rings, carved from the same piece of wood, are not added — they are part of the original block, crafted to move freely along the stem. It’s a piece that speaks to commitment, endurance, and a love that’s built to last.

At their wedding feast, the couple both drank from the goblet and thereafter kept it in a safe place. For so long as the rings remained unbroken, they would love each other forever.

Studying Furniture Design & Manufacture at GMIT Letterfrack completely changed my life. I discovered a passion for working with my hands, and creating totally unique pieces. When I work with wood I feel truly connected to the material, and at one with nature.
I began to develop Magill Woodcraft Ireland in 2016, my second year of college. Since then I have continued to learn, and constantly aim for the highest quality craftsmanship.
Along with conserving our enchanting Irish culture, my mission is to exceed customers’ expectations, by crafting some of the most heartfelt & beautiful wooden gifts in Ireland.
