Product Description

Crafted with love, this Ireland Australia map is the perfect gift for anyone with a connection to Ireland, and Australia! Handmade by Furniture Designer-Maker & Woodturner Cian Magill, it holds a truly unique story. It is made from an Irish marble-spalted Sycamore tree that lived in Co. Galway since c. 1945.

‘Spalting’ is any form of wood colouration caused by fungi, and is sought after by woodworkers for it’s unique patterns.

Finished in natural linseed oil with respect, care, and love.

The location and family name can be personalised to anything you wish. Simply let me know in the info box on checkout. The map also comes with a screen-printed, Fairtrade cotton bag, and a Celtic style info card

Note: creations are made to order so grain details will vary, giving each piece it’s own personality. You can be assured that whoever you have in mind for this piece will be smitten by it’s rareness and beauty!

I can also make a different version of this piece, with any other countries required.

Beannachtaí,
Cian Magill.

I just received my Map of Ireland and I am delighted! The tree from which this piece was made stands as a piece of history in and of itself having stood on the grounds of Trinity College in Dublin nearly two centuries ago. The wood itself has a beautiful grain and color and the glow of a lovingly fashioned piece of art. The artisan, Cian Magill, has beautifully reproduced the rugged coastline of Ireland with extra fine precision. I don’t think I quite fully appreciated the detail until I held it in my own hands. Engraved with our original family name and pinpointing our point of origin in Glendalough, this is a family heirloom I will be proud to pass on. Cian, thank you for sharing your talent and your gifting. I recognize that piece of yourself you put into each piece you design and bring to life. Well done!
